WHO IS NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON?
Neil deGrasse Tyson is an American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator. Born in 1958 in New York City, he received his BA in Physics from Harvard University and his MA and PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Tyson's career began as a postdoctoral research associate at the Princeton University Observatory and he later joined the Hayden Planetarium in New York City, where he became director in 1996. Tyson has written several popular books on astronomy and astrophysics and is a frequent guest on television programs and talk shows. He has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions to science and science communication.
Today, Tyson continues to promote science education and literacy through his media appearances and public lectures, and he currently serves as the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
