Peter Singer Live On Stage
Join us for an exclusive and enlightening series of live shows featuring one of the most influential philosophers of our time, Peter Singer, who is launching Animal Liberation Now.
This tour is your chance to see in person the man who wrote Animal Liberation, the 1975 classic credited with triggering the modern animal rights movement. As Singer’s new book demonstrates, although the animal movement has made progress, factory farming is bigger and worse than ever, and the need to oppose it is more urgent.
Singer’s essay “Famine, Affluence and Morality” influenced a separate movement, Effective Altruism. Here too, Singer’s work retains its relevance. We are living in a world in which more than a billion people enjoy a high level of comfort and affluence while more than 700 million people do not have enough to provide food, shelter or basic health care to themselves and their families. Now climate change threatens to make some parts of the planet uninhabitable. Singer’s thinking can help us to decide what it is to live an ethical life in the 21st century.
As Kwame Anthony Appiah, who writes “The Ethicist” column for the New York Times, has noted, Singer's impact on the field of philosophy is unparalleled. He has spent his life exploring the most pressing moral issues facing humanity, challenging our assumptions and beliefs, and offering insights and solutions that are both thought-provoking and actionable.
Whether you're a student, a professional, an activist, or simply someone who cares deeply about the world we live in, you won't want to miss this opportunity to hear directly from Peter Singer. His live shows promise to be engaging, informative, and inspiring, as he shares his unique perspective on the most important issues of our time.
Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage with one of the greatest philosophical minds of our era. Get your tickets now!

Singer thinks through every issue on its merits and does not fit standard political labels. Though widely regarded as on the left, his strong belief in freedom of thought and expression led him to become a founding editor of the open-access Journal of Controversial Ideas, which, in its first four issues, has published a wide range of taboo-violating articles that would not otherwise have been published in a peer-reviewed journal.
During the evening, Singer will open up about his personal story, growing up in Melbourne as the child of Viennese-Jewish refugees from the Nazis. He will discuss his quest to learn more about his grandfather, who wrote about psychology and literature, including an article co-authored with Sigmund Freud, before becoming one of the many victims of the Holocaust. In the course of that quest, which resulted in Pushing Time Away, Singer’s tribute to his grandfather, Singer made a surprising discovery about the sexuality of his grandparents.
Peter Singer's impact on the field of philosophy and ethical thought has been recognized around the world, with numerous accolades and awards highlighting his profound influence on society.
Since 1999, Peter Singer has been a Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, where his courses on ethics have attracted thousands of the brightest undergraduates in the United States. His 2006 New York Times essay "What Should a Billionaire Give - and What Should You?" sparked widespread discussion and led to the publication of his book The Life You Can Save, and the founding of a charity of the same name that has raised more than $85 million for a select list of the most effective organizations that help people in extreme poverty.
In 2012, the Australian Government awarded Singer the Companion of the Order of Australia, the nation's highest civic honor, in recognition of his distinguished career as a philosopher and bioethicist, and for his leadership in public debate on critical issues such as global poverty, animal welfare, and the human condition.
Singer's contributions have also been recognized by his peers. In 2016, he received Philosophy Now's Award for Contributions in the Fight Against Stupidity, in recognition of his efforts to raise awareness and inspire action on pressing social issues. Specifically, he was honored for his work to "disturb the comfortable complacency with which many of us habitually ignore the desperate needs of others," particularly through his advocacy for the Effective Altruism movement.
Most recently, in 2021, Singer was awarded the prestigious Berggruen Prize in recognition of his invaluable contribution to philosophy and ethical thought. Singer generously donated the $1 million prize to effective charities, exemplifying his commitment to making a positive impact on the world. In 2023, he shared the "Frontiers of Knowledge" award for the humanities from Spain's BBVA Foundation with Steven Pinker.
Peter Singer is a rare and remarkable thinker, a philosopher whose insights and ideas have challenged our assumptions and changed the way we see the world. As one of history's greatest utilitarian philosophers, he has inherited a duty to reason with life's most controversial and painful questions, and to offer new perspectives on how we can make the world a better place.
Now, you have the opportunity to see Peter in action, as he shares his thoughts on a range of topics, from selecting our children on the basis of genetic testing to eating ethically, from abortion to the way we die, and from the ethics of what we eat to what we should be doing for those living in extreme poverty. Singer’s insights will be both thought-provoking and actionable.
Whether you're a student, a professional, an activist, or simply someone who cares deeply about the world we live in, you won't want to miss this chance to engage with one of the greatest thinkers of our time. Get your tickets now and join us for an unforgettable journey into the mind and heart of Peter Singer.
