WANTED: a daring Business Development Researcher that is ripe with clever and creative ideas for bringing Think Inc.’s brand of public intellectual thought events to Australian and NZ audiences.

Think Inc. is Australia’s biggest intellectual touring company, out for the boldest answers to the riskiest questions of the 21st century and beyond. Uncompromising in our quest for clear, critical, courageous guests, we cut through the bullshit and take audiences deep down the rabbit holes of science, technology, philosophy, politics, and more. With this goal, we want candidates who do not shy away from confronting conversations and dare to play their part in bringing open-minded inquiry to the masses.

It is expected that the Business Development Researcher will have familiarity and compatibility with popular culture and be fluent in intellectual thought and ideas. Our target audience is a youthful demographic that is both socially aware and motivated to have open and honest discussions about social issues.  

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

To work across the Think Inc.’s current portfolio and research new Think Inc. projects. The role of the Business Development Researcher involves being immersed in all types of media and liaising with the team to feed vital insights into different areas of the intellectual sphere.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Research organisations which would be good collaborators for Think Inc.

– Create reports as to why brands should collaborate with our brand

– Look for sponsorship and relationship building opportunities

– Support the creation of sponsorship proposals

– Create case studies on existing programs and competitors

– Ad-hoc duties

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

– A passion for intellectual thought and discussion

– A passion for popular culture and street culture

– Great copywriting skills

– Creativity

– Serious attention to detail

– Excellent use of initiative

– Highly reliable

– Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects

– Ability to work alone and in a team

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a desire to see reason, rationality, and intellectual rigour resonate strongly in the Australian public. Think Inc. can offer course credits and learning opportunities but is seeking an unpaid internship which has the potential of growing into a permanent job role. The candidate must be based in Sydney to work from our Earlwood office.

This means reading the books, listening to the podcasts, searching the social media, and watching the videos of popular public intellectuals such as Neil deGrasse Tyson, Steven Pinker, Sam Harris, Ezra Klein, Jordan Peterson, Brian Greene, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and more.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

To work across the Think Inc.’s current portfolio and research new Think Inc. projects. The role of the Content Researcher involves being immersed in all types of media and liaising with the team to feed vital insights into different areas of the intellectual sphere. The primary role is to research and help create a weekly video and podcast. The weekly video will briefly highlight recent books, releases, podcasts, technological/scientific breakthroughs etc. The podcast will delve into a different intellectual topic each week.  

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Research though all social media outlets such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook

– Develop weekly briefs about the current issues within the intellectual sphere

– Be completely in the know about the happenings within the intellectual sphere.

– Creativity

WANTED: a daring Video Editor/Motion Graphics expert that is ripe with clever and creative ideas for bringing Think Inc.’s brand of public intellectual thought events to Australian and NZ audiences.

Think Inc. is Australia’s biggest intellectual touring company, out for the boldest answers to the riskiest questions of the 21st century and beyond. Uncompromising in our quest for clear, critical, courageous guests, we cut through the bullshit and take audiences deep down the rabbit holes of science, technology, philosophy, politics, and more. With this goal, we want candidates who do not shy away from confronting conversations and dare to play their part in bringing open-minded inquiry to the masses.

It is expected that the video editor will have familiarity and compatibility with popular culture in order to produce/edit videos tailored to a primarily young adult audience. Our target audience is a youthful demographic that is both socially aware and motivated to have open and honest discussions about social issues.  

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To work across the Think Inc.’s portfolio and produce/edit video content that both educates and entertains our audiences, with our unique brand of HUMOUR.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Design video clips based on existing footage

– Create animation/adverts based on artwork provided

– Resizing of video clips to fit multiple platforms

– Designing unique videos for our events e.g. special titles and promo clips

– Create videos clips for social media needs

– Create marketing and advertising materials

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

– A passion for intellectual thought and discussion

– A passion for popular culture and street culture

– Great copywriting skills

– Creativity

– A clear understanding of core video editing techniques

– Advanced skills in Adobe Premier or similar, After Effects, Photoshop

– Good knowledge in animation

– Serious attention to detail

– Excellent use of initiative

– Highly reliable

– Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects

– Ability to work under pressure

– Ability to work alone and in a team

PREFERRED, BUT NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

– Basic knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

– Knowledge in HTML5

– Knowledge in WordPress

– Design skills
